Vegetation Site Name -- Dry Mountain Loam Range Site <br /> A. Climate -- Average annual moisture is 12 to 14 inches with <br /> 50 percent or more received as snow. The optimum growing <br /> season for native plants is May 15 to July 1. Associated areas <br /> are limited in growth due to wind and exposure. <br /> B. Elevation and Topography -- The site occurs on a nearly level <br /> mesa. The elevation is about 8,600 feet above sea level. <br /> C. Potential Plant Community -- Soils are deep enough to store the <br /> moisture received in the average year. Grasses growing on the <br /> site are mixed with sagebrush a.nd low rabbitbrush. Main <br />~ grasses are bluebunch and other wheatgrasses, sheep fescue, <br /> needlegrasses, Junegrass and sedges. Total annual yields can <br /> reach as high as 1000///acre. <br /> D.
