• r
MEMORANDUM
TO: Bob Oswald
Division of Mimetals
FROM: Mark L. Orbeck ~,~~:ll~ w/irZ~rf~~~~~~-
DATE: December 27, 1993
RE: Delacroce Pit- File it M-93-050
III IIIIIIIIII111111
999
~~ ~~ti~
~.~o "`(.
a-19~`r~S_~igS
In our phone conversation last week, you stated that there were several items to be considered prior to
setting the bond costs for this project. I have discussed these items with the applicant, Mr. Ray
Dellacroce and offer the following comments for your review:
1) Rock Exwvation• Gravel sampling was performed by C'I7. / Thompson. Inc. on December
16, 1992, a Dopy of the results of which was iarluded within the application. These results
indicate quality gravel to depths ranging from 15 foot to 40 foot The mining plan is graded
to maximiu gravel yields within the sample locations. Mining will pn>ceed in such a manner
that when the excavation in each phase is complete the resulting topography will match the
proposed final contours. Excavation requiring ripping or specialized equipment is not
anticipated and final contouring can be achieved with the scxteduled equipment and machinery
( dour amd front end loader ).
2) Excess Fill Operatlons• As can be seen in the mining plan. fill attar within the site ate
insignificant in sun`acc arts anti volume. My refetrace to cosmetic shaping penainv to the two
existing knolls which will tentain in the fiturl comouring. These knolls are the easterly ends of
two prominent forgers or ridges on the present site and will be shaped by excavating material
west and above the knoll. Vegetation and topsoU on the knoll will amain undisturbed
~Iu/'~~~~ throughout the mining phases.
3) Topsoil Placement and Spreading- All stripped vegetation and topsoU will be placed at
1 ~, _ the west (upper end) of each mining phase. This will inhibit erosion on the lower end of the
Pti'~ I, /,~.~5 closed pit area at the contour breaks and will allow a downward movement for Wpsoil
G- spreading.
4
~~' 4) Access Roads- The applicant will require access to the proposed site as well as the '/
reclaimed areas above to monitor vegetative growth and weed control and ultimately for ranch
and stuck operations. The pit acce,5s road will essentially remain in the presem location. '~` _ "
Stock is sewrtd from site by existing fencing and will be kept off newly reclaimed areas
~-
l understand that you anticipate a final determination of bond requirements on December 29, 1993. If
1 can amswer any other questions. please don't hesitate to call.
cc: Ray Dellacroce
e
GRAEF
5C II~EMF,R
and A.rsOtlalet Inn.
IOd E00 SJNI21dS OOH2J0~00 SHE 0990 tiE9 6iL Lb~Ei LZ-ZI-E66i
