Dept. of Natural Resources
Mr. Dan Mathews
Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver CO 80203
Dear Tor. Mathews:
Item No. IV, B.2. on Page 16 of our Abandonment
and Reclamation Plan for Wilson-Loudy Loadout calls
for the retention of the Northern-built Sediment
Pond. Reclamation of this pond is to be effected
after revegetation of the rest of the area.
As you and I have discussed previously, the utility
of this pond for sediment control is marginal. This,
coupled with the adverse affects of re-disturbing
the area to reclaim the pond once vegetation is es-
tablished, makes the retention of the pond infeasible.
Northern Coal is asking for a minor revision to its
Reclamation Plan, allovring the removal of the pond
prior to revegetation. Sediment in the drainages
vaill be controlled by the use of fabric fences at
the entrance and outlet of culverts. All culverts
and ditches will continue to be cleaned and main-
tained.
The rest of the drainage and sedimentation plan will
remain the same.
Thank you for your consideration to this matter.
Sincere/l +,
Hank Coufos, `
T•line Superintendent
