Please find enclosed responses to the Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) adequacy review
of the Lorencito Canyon coal mine proposal.
As we discussed yesterday, based on your review of the original permit materials and the
Division of Wildlife (DOW) site visit, DMG would like to DOW to define those issues that
remain and provide specifics with regard to mitigation of impacts to wildlife and wildlife habitat
as it pertains to reclamation of the site.
~` Please review the enclosed information to determine whether your original concerns identified
in your letter of February 26, 1997 have been adequately addressed by the applicant. Incorporate
as necessary any additional concerns identified through field review or further review. 1f you
could provide DMG comments by May 23, 1997, we would appreciate it. We have extended our
decision deadline to July 2, 1997.
