Box 758
Golden, CO 80401
Dear Mr. Mills:
~~~ ~~~~I~~~~~I~~ ~I~
999
Oclcber 10, 1980
Enclosed please find an overlay of the soils map that covers the
area that you intend to contour mine for coal. I have also enclosed
brief descriptions of the soils found within this area.
There are no soils within your permit area that the Soil Conserva-
tion Service has identified as prime farm land.
To my knowledge, none of this land has a history of ever being
cropped, nor has any of it ever been irrigated.
Once you get out of the Del Agua Canyon bottom the slopes exceed
ten percent and the soils are rocky, and for the most part shallow
to parent material.
I am also enclosing two (2~ Cooperative Agreements with the Spanish
Peaks Soil Conservation District. I would appreciate your signing
and dating both copies of this Agreement and returning them to me so
that I can present them to the District for their approval.
This Agreement is_not a legal or binding document: It merely gives
our Service permission to work with you through the Soil Conservation
District.
If you have any questions regarding this please feel free to
contact our office.
Sincerely,
/3 ~2 l.~Jc~7~ri-~
W.
