~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ CHIMNEY ROCK COAL -
999
105 East Klowa, Suite 200 • Colorado Springs, Colorado • 80903 • (303) 475-7005
November 30, 1982
Mr. Don Simpson
Reclamation Specialist
Water Quality Control Division
4210 East 11th Avenue
Denver, Colorado 80220
Re: Chimney Rock Coal
Permit No. CO-0036081
Dear Don:
~~~ ? 1982
MINED LAND R~!.I-~,;:~AIIUN
Colo. Dept. of I~aiural ~eso~~rr.P
The purpose of this letter is to request that the WQCD modify
the recently approved pit water discharge amendment for the
above referenced permit.
The amendment was approved for pit water discharge via a new
outfall point (001). The modification is needed in that the
discharge of pit water will only be required for two months.
Discharge pursuant to the amendment will require the
construction of a new pond. This two month period, however,
does not warrant the construction of another pond.
Therefore, we request the authority to discharge this water
via outfall 002 which is an existing sediment retention
structure. The structure is proposed to be used during 60
days commencing mid-December. Therefore, the need to
maintain a 10 year 24 hour capacity should not be critical
during that time of the year.
If you require any additional information in your endeavor to
process this request, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
~~ ~ l/iFl~ .l ~iC.S.
Rade H. Orell
Environment Supervisor
RHO/pks
cc: Mike Long
Mike Stairwalt
