The DWR has a <br />number of questions and comments which are addressed below. <br />1. No response required. <br />2. The DWR indicates that drill holes penetrating unconfined <br />aquifers should be plugged and sealed pursuant to Rule 15.1 - <br />15.2 of the Water Well Contractors Rules (2CCR 402-2). <br />On permit application pages 2.05-57 & 2.05-58, the applicant <br />explains that exploration and monitoring holes will be sealed <br />in accordance with DMG Rule 4.07 copy enclosed. Are the DMG <br />rules different than the DWR's7 <br />3. The DWR indicates that reducing sediment deposition in the <br />Deer Trail Ditch and Fire Mountain Canal may be viewed as a <br />negative impact because clear water can affect the seal in <br />some ditches and cause increased transmission losses. <br />The sediment ponds to be constructed by the applicant will <br />reduce the sediment load from the ephemeral drainages that may <br />flow to either the Fire Mountain Canal or the Deer Trail <br />Ditch. The DMG and the applicant's discharge permit require <br />the construction of sediment ponds. Since these ephemeral <br />drainages would only be expected to flow during spring <br />snowmelt and significant precipitation events, the benefit and <br />or negative impact caused by the reduced sediment load from <br />these drainages probably does not merit further discussion. <br />
