STATE OF COIORApO RiC H4pD ~M, Govemn~
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
D. Shelton
Director
DATE: February 18, 1983
TD: Sandy Emrich and Ed Bischoff
FROM: Jerry Zimpfer
RE: CYCC's Response to Adequacy Review, Foidel Creek Mine
Attached you will find a revised copy of my February 9, 1983 memo concerning
Colorado Yampa's response to our adequacy review. I have attempted to clarify
a few items, and have removed my references to unresolved issues with the
Department of Health. The critical issue remains the same. The applicant
must fully characterize the anticipated mine water discharge, and predict the
hydrologic consequences of that discharge on the existing hydrologic system.
A copy of my revised memo may be forwarded to the applicant, and a meeting to
discuss the memo should be arranged. We may want to discuss the Yampa CHIS
at the wage time. Prior to meeting with the applicant, we should consult with
the Department of Health to determine which water quality standards apply to
the discharged from the underground works, and from the spoils well.
Attachments
cc: Jim Pendleton
Roy Cox
