Shelton
July I5, 1981 Director
TO: Brian Munson
FROM: Susan Mowry ~v„~,ft~,
RE: Review of Additional Materials Submitted by H-G Coal Company
File No. C-003-80
The newly submitted material comprises a very small amount of yet out-
standing information.
The reclamation plan for the sediment ponds along the road was included.
H~-G plans to reestablish the original grade, replace B and A horizons and
test for soil amendments. They do not specifically commit to removal of
dam embankments (although this is implied) and they say nothing about
seeding and mulching.
They have also submitted a revegetation plan for the loadout area. They
plan to remove all coal handling facilities, redistribute topsoil and
test it, seed using a specified mix, mulch and then determine revegetation
success using a summary of 5 years of data from adjacent hay fields. The
only thing that 2 think they could add would be to rip the soil to relieve
compaction where necessary.
They also submitted an interdivisional memo from DOW making a few suggestions
on improving their reclamation plan. This is hardly a complete wildlife
mitigation plan, but I would find it acceptable if H-G would specifically
commit to the changes Mr. Haskins of DCX^7 mentions.
The only other information that was submitted seems to be copies of pages
already found in the permit- What they are up to with these pages is up
for guesses.
~~
