Gray, President
Storm Kinq Mines
1901 Kipling Street
Lakewood, CO 80215
Dear Mr. Gray:
My purpose in writing is to notify you that I do not want Storm King Mines
to reclaim any of the areas your company has disturbed on my land during
your coal exploration program.
My purpose for making this request is two-fold: first, the roads your company
has built on my property now provide me with access to pastures that I could
not reach before, and second, the land you have cleared in the process of
road construction will provide me with a small, but nevertheless important,
additional pasture area for grazing cattle.
I fully intend to revegetate the roadways and disturbed slopes myself to con-
trol erosion, so,I would prefer that your company not make any plans that
might eventually conflict with my intended uses.
I understand that you have certain reclamation obligations to meet under the
terms of your exploration permit. If your company has any problems in
obtaining a release from the Mined Land Reclamation Board for the reclama-
tion of my property, do not hesitate to let me know, I will be happy to meet
with.representatives of the board to reemphasize my wishes to keep your drill
roads as they are.
If you, have any questions concerning my wishes, do not hesitate to contact
me.
Sincerely,
Mr. Barton Porter
N
BP/skb
