'f he area involved is less than ten acres. <br />The general smil of the area is the Beenom-Absarolcee Associat un on 20 <br />to 60% slopes. This particular mine site is in a sort of box canyon <br />which has an occurrence of Mancos shale underlying the gravelly clay <br />loam and channery 1o am. <br />There is no water table within six Euet oC the lowest elevation. 'Ihe <br />erosion hazard is high From water run-off but slight. from wind. Cohble <br />and stone are common on tl,e surface. Less than 10'7: coarse fragments <br />gren[er than three inches diameter, are in the upper surface 14 ;nchas. <br />The soil pH is 6.6 to 7.8 on the surface and 7.4 to 8.4 in [he sub so~l. <br />Frost action is moderate. permeability ;s .6 to 2.0 inches per hour to <br />a depth of about 30 inches then there is hard sandstone. <br />The shrinkaswell potential is low in the upper few 'nclies and moderate <br />from 4 to about 18 inches. Corrosit;vity is higl, to uncoated steel. <br />The range site is a Rocky loam. The vegetation 's sparce due to the <br />disturbance. Howkver, on adjacent undisturbed areas the native vegetation <br />consists of a trace of each four-wing salt-bush, Indian rice grass. Elk <br />sedge, Sage and sparce plants of Rabbit brush, June grass, Cheat grass and <br />Buckwheat.
