Dent. of 91aPural Reso!~rce~
Dear Ms. Russell:
This letter is to confirm my statements concerning the
water hole located in the NE; SE; of Section 24, Township
205, Range 70W in Fremont County. This pit was mined by
Canon Coal Corp. in 1973. Water has remained in the pit
at all times since, with the pit below the water table. Surface
water has entered the pit after some rains.
The Corley Company has a water well located west of the pit,
with Colorado Division of Water Resources number 119459 and
shown to be 3000 feet from the north section line and 200 feet
from the east section line. Well depth is 100 feet.
We would make the strongest request possible that the pit not be
filled with Dorchester refuse, so that any water table contamination
be avoided. We would request that the pit be filled, and we have
offered to furnish the manpower to GEC if they will furnish the
machinery.
You stated that The Corley Company
in effect. I forgot to ask for the
for the section that they bonded.
had reclamation bonds still
numbers of those bonds and
Sincerely,
W. D. Corley, r./VI
President
