Box 783
Trinidad, Colorado 81082
Dear Mr. Mills:
The Division has become increasingly concerned with the lack of response by
Trinidad Basin Mining to concerns raised by the Division in the review of your
permanent program permit application. With the exception of the one meeting
between representatives of TBM, Sutherland, Ricketts, and Rindahl, and Michael
Savage of the Division, no additional progress has been made by TBM toward
resolving outstanding concerns in the permit application. At this time over
180 days have passed since the complete application was submitted. If TBM
does not show further diligence in the resolution of outstanding issues and
obtaining permanent program approval the Division will be required to take
action which may result in cessation of mining operations.
Sincerely,
David C. Shelton
Director
DCS:mab
