Barry, III,
Director
Dear Mr. Reschke: Pttr f ~,~ttl ,
r
Staff has crnq~leted an adequacy review under the J1~].y, 1978 State regula-
tions with the Federal interim regulations, 30 CFR,~on the Red Canyon ~~1
mine. Although we may have already discussed sane of these concerns in
previous conferences, they are assembled here so you will be fully aware
of the issues needing resolution.
In the interest of expediency we are sending you these calments prior to
a comprehensive orL-site inspection. Additional comments may be generated
on the basis of that visit, review of other portions of the application
by manbers of our technical staff, as noted and, of course, in the review
of the applicant's responses to this letter.
Appropriate regulations are referenced at the end of each issue.
Exhibit C Pre-Mining and Mining Plan Maps
Maps as submitted with the application are of extremely poor quality.
The use of white contour lines over the aerial photo presents a map
which is very difficult to use. As was discussed in my letter of ~ K
February 21, 1980, the quality of maps should be improved. (2.12 (3))
Also, a map of affected areas should clearly depict the areas that were
affected and when (by year) and what areas are being reaffected now. ~ K
Permit boundaries must be shown on all maps. (2.12 (3))
Exhibit D Mining Plan
Geology in the present mine plan area has not been submitted. Information
fran drill logs explaining the geology and hydrology is needed. This should
include:
April 2, 1980
