The major change to the permit is in the
drainage design because the haul road and benches were reconfigured by MK. The proposed
disturbed area boundary was revised by the MK design so all of the maps that showed this boundary
had to be revised
The MK design did not significantly change the areal extent of the planned disturbance. Therefore,
sediment ponds B and C did not have to be redesigned to handle the calculated run-off volume and
sediment load. The run-off calculations are presented in revised Exhibit 8, Volume III. I performed
the run-off calculations using the same modeling technique that has been reviewed and accepted by the
DMG for this permit application. None of the curve numbers were revised
A pump house will be located south of old State Highway 133 near the Deer Trail Ditch as shown on
the facilities map. This structure will house pumps capable of pumping water up to the portal area
This feature was not provided for in previous submittals.
I can address a couple of dre loose ends in my December 4'" submittal as follows:
8a Enclosed is a letter from the SHPO dated December 3, 1996 regarding the recordation of the
Bowie Mine SDT.122. The SHPO requested additional photographs of the structures to
supplement the Level II Documentation of Structures. The photographs have been taken and
should be submitted to the SHPO in early January. The letter from the SHPO should be
inserted into Volume VI, Cultural Resources.
13. A number of the hydrologic monitoring sheets submitted December 4a were missing the
laboratory analysis data for the November monitoring event. Enclosed are replacement pages
for those monitoring sheets.
