Responses were prepazed <br />by Environmental Alternatives, Inc., and Weaver Engineering Services. Items denoted <br />with (BB) indicate responses and information provided by Chris Sanchez of Bishop- <br />Brogden Consultants as supplemental information to the Apri125, 2007 and Mazch 2006 <br />reports. <br />Item 3: Addresses for Gilliam and Cotter Corporation have been corrected in the permit <br />text chart on pages 2.03-6 and 2.03-7. Requested revisions to the Land Use Maps will be <br />provided upon receipt. <br />Item 5: Northfield agrees to submit the appropriate permit page when MSHA number is <br />known. <br />Item 6: Revised insurance certificate is provided as replacement Exhibit AD. <br />Item 8: Map 4 depicts the permit boundazy with a dashed line, referenced in the map <br />legend. Similazly Maps 5 and 6 show the permit boundary with the same line and legend <br />reference. No label is necessary for the permit boundary on Map 4. <br />Item 9: Metcalfe Archaeological Consultants performed additional cultural survey in the <br />vicinity of the shaft. The additional report is provided as an addendum to Exhibit AF. <br />Item 10: Roof and floor chemistry is provided as Exhibit AG. Permit text on pages <br />2.04-14 and 15 is revised to reference laboratory data. <br />Item 11: The cores extracted for determination of engineering properties of the clay and <br />clay shales were not of sufficient integrity to withstand analysis. The integrity of the <br />samples was compromised during extraction due to severe weather conditions, coring <br />equipment malfunction and extraction procedure inconsistencies. <br />Northfield submitted two samples of mudstone core from the immediate floor strata at the <br />NF-02 site, both of which would not withstand laboratory physical testing.
