OSSERVATI(T15 OF L`iPOIZGAN(..T:
1. The area has essentially been clear cut of cottonwood acid ~oillow. Dozer nnc! buzz saw
were used as evidenced by cut and ripped stumpage.
2. Cut timber has been windrowed along the Colorado River Co within 10 to _°0 f~~~t of the
bank for the entire length of the pcr;mit boundary.
3. 1'he windrow is heavily mired w.iUt the boles, branches, and stumps oC the ~~~tl~nr.~ood
[re es, along with soil, indicating that much of the material was pushed [herr•~~~irh a dozer
blade.
4. Screeners have been stored on the northern portion of the site, however. n~~~~ther
equipment or heavy machinery was observed. _
5. The 25 foot buffer ner.t Co adjaccnC lands has also been disturbed. No tr.•.~ -end only
some patches of grass remain.
6. Wetland areas and areas north on Che permit aria have mgt been affected. TIC n.tivity
seems to have been confined to Che observed clear~.nt.
7. It should be noted that the permit called for the. remov:~l of al~pro::imaC~l~: I70 to 220
cottonwood tress with an equivalent cumber tb remain. t)niy two col.tonwoods i~.mi~in nn the
permit area.
8. 'f he wetland aria occurs. on the low~lyin); areas near Che. center of the permit area.
Rushes, cattail, horsetail, willow, tamara;c, and other sper_ies were ohserveJ. Th~• area
supports an abundance of blackbirds.
