Room 215 <br />Denier, Colorado 80203 <br />RE: Letter of Complaint -Blasting, Portland Limestone Quam, File No. M - 77 - 344 <br />Dear Mr. Oehler: <br />Enclosed is the information on the blasts subject to complaint. Also included is information on three blasts <br />fired since the complaint was received at the Portland Quam. Two of the blasts were recorded at the <br />Bowie residence, the 11/4/97 blast vas at a point some what in line between the blast and appronmately <br />2/5 of the distance from the blast to the Bowie residence. <br />Mrs. Bowie gave us permission to set up the seismograph in their yard. She also pointed out cracks in the <br />stucco, cracks where the soffit meets the stucco wall, cracks in stucco near window comers and wall <br />intersections and described cracks in the basement concrete floor, some of which were in a conswction <br />joint and others running in random directions. The basement cracks were no[ personally inspected as the <br />inclement weather had caused mud to stick to my clothing and shoes. <br />The e.~plosives used by the Portland Quarr}• are: <br />ANFO <br />BLEND 500: 35% IRECO/DYNO RG 3 EMULSION AND 65% ANFO <br />BLEND 1000' 65%IRECO/DYNO RG 3 EMULSION AND 35%ANFO <br />PRIMERS: ARE 1 LB. CAST EXPLOSIVES MADE FOR USE WITH EXPLOSIVES <br />TECHNOLOGIES INTERNATIONAL DETA LINE TNTTIATION SYSTEM <br />
