The present level
of the financial warranty of $2,500.00 has been increased by the Board to
$5,000.00. Tllis increase must be submitted to our Division and approved with-
in 60 days of today's date. A rider to the existing corporate surety r+'ould
suffice. However, if the surety company wishes to issue a new corporate surety,
please have them contact us first, since there are now new forms which should
be used.
I have also received your answer to my inspection report. I am satisfied
that you plan to restore the highcralls to the approved 3:1 slope. I am
still concerned, however, that you may not have enough material to adequately
do this job, As soon as sufficient space is available, I suggest that you
begin either stockpiling backfill material or actually proceed with the
backfilling operation to restoz'e the 3:1 slope. Furthermore, as soon as
the topsoil planned for use in reclamation is disturbed, it should be properly
stockpiled away from the mining and processing operations and stabilized by
planting. Any topsoil already salvaged for reclamation should be treated in
like manner.
I suggest that you report on the progress of these matters each year in your
annual reports. Please call me if you have any further' quest.ion.s in this
matter.
Sincerely,
~y1~-u,,~~ ~ c a~1>.
hla rk s. Loge
Senior Reclamation Specialist
F1SL: ys
