<br />On behalf of our client,; Connell Resources;• Inc.,.this letter is in response fo•the site inspection performed
<br />on Ivlazch 28, 2006.. The inspection was performed with myself; John Warren (Connell Resources; Inc.),
<br />and Eric.Ri;ckentine and Tun Neilson (Lafarge West Inc.). During the inspection, several sites were
<br />observed including;the, We111ngton Downs •Pit (M-1995-035); the Weitzel Pit (M,1986-050), and the
<br />Stute Pit,(M-1981-007);,~Results ofthe'inspection required Conne[I Resources; Inc.'(CRI) to incorporate
<br />current site activities pinto _the reclamation plan by amending the StutB Pit permit. ,Materials updating the
<br />Stu;e Pit reclamation plan. and permit were submitted to the Division in a letter dated•May 26; 2006.
<br />Additionally,. the- inspection? report required 'that Lafarge` West, Inc.'. (Lafarge); prevent surface water
<br />' discharges'from.the•Weitzel Pit groundwater lakes orrevise the reclamation plan fo allow the dischazges.
<br />Currently; surface water is not discharging from the Weitzel Pitsite. - ~ ~' ' '
<br />On April 14;;2006;.representatives from CRI and Lafarge met to discuss the';cun•enf conditions that have
<br />created surface water discharges` from the Weitzel Pit groundwater lakesf' The conditions appeaz to
<br />' involve Both Lafazge"and CRLproperties. ;Both Lafazge and, CRI agreed to:havB~Apple"gate Group, Inc.
<br />evaluafe the surface watei,'groundwater; and~local drainage conditions to better understand the issue and
<br />design asolution. -The evaluation'is currently being conducted.`. , . -
