Walker
From:
Sent:
To:
Cc:
Subject:
Walker, Byron
Friday, August 22, 2003 10:11 AM
Crellin Scott (KEC) (E-mail)
Hernandez, Dan
Review of Blast Report, Blast of February 12, 2003
\1~~~..
NJ
C-i4'SI-c(q 2,nr~r,-~-K
Dear Mr. Scott, thank you for the information (hole depths and holes [hat were wet) of August 21, 2003, 1:06 PM (e-mail
and fax). From this and previous information, please find attached my reconstruction of the blast. As reported on the blast
record, a maximum of two holes went off within any 8-millisecond time period. There were 31 incidences where two holes
went off during 8-ms time periods during the blast, with the maximum amount of explosives in any one of the sets being
4568 pounds (4566 on the printout corrected for 1 each extra primer in two deep holes). This is below the 6112 pounds
permissible. A maximum of 5309 pounds within an 8-millisecond time period is indicated on the blast record (a difference
of 16%). The analysis also indicates that the total weight of explosive used was 218,931 pounds, including the primers.
The blast record indicates 224, 837 pounds (2.7% difference). The analysis indicates that 160,809 pounds of anfo was
used. The blast record indicates that 164,229 pounds of anfo were used (2% difference). The analysis indicates that
57,912 pounds of emulsion was used, the blast record indicates that 60,668 were used (5% difference). Please review the
reconstruction for accuracy and, as you have done before, let me know if you find any errors. Yours truly, Byron G.
