Box 35
Ordway, Colorado 81063
RE: FILE NO.: 79-132 MINE: "Korinek Sand and
• Gravel Pit"
SW 1/8, SE'~NE'~ Sec. 20, T225, R57W
(Please note the instructions indicated by
an X to the right.)
Photos 7-11
^ No problems noted ac time of inspection
As a reminder, be sure to file your
Annual Report or Notice of Intent to
Continue on the Permit Anniversary Dace
Possible problem(s) - Note recot®tenda-
tion(s) below to avoid further complica-
tions or possible violation(s) at the
time of the next inspection.
Q Possible violation(s) -Note recommenda-
tion(s) below and reply to the Division
by December 31, 1981 to avoid
enforcement action.
^ Possible violation(s) pose(s) an
immediate threat of harm to the
environment, public welfare, or
continued operation. Enforcement
action forthcoming.
OBSERVATIGNS OF Ii1PORTANCE:
1. The operation consists of a plant area plus a separate pit. The plant area is
adjacent to an old pit (not recently mined). The plant area also has an excavated pond.
2. 8~1 acres seems accurate - pit is 2-3 acres and plant is 5-6 acres. No exact out-
line map is in the permit file, however.
3. Topsoil seems to be stockpiled above the pit. It is not planted, however.
4. No reclamation of either part of the permit has occurred.
5. A written reply to Jim Schmieding's adequacy letter is not in the file yet.
6. Bond has not yet come in.
i
7. A permit has not been issued for this pit.
1. Give our Division a written reply to Jim Schmieding's adequacy letter of 1/29/80.
This should include an exact outline map of the permit area.
2. Clarify the location of topsoil stockpiles. They should be planted with a perennial
grass cover crop for stabilization.
3. Clarify when some reclamation will start, and where.
4. Get $2,500 bond in to our Division so that a permit can be issued.
5, This is still an unpermitted operation until a bond is approved by the Division and
a permit is issued. Anew Cease and Desist order can be considered by the Board (and wi1Z
be) unless this pit is bonded and permitted as soon as possible.
6. A bond form for use with a certificate of deposit is enclosed.
Inspected by: ~~Z ~ - D~~~
Recl~tion Specialist
PfSL/mmt
