iiiiiiriiillii~~l~i <br />M E M O R A N D D `t <br />T0: James Sells - Interim Coordinator <br />Fly: James Schmieding - Mined Land Reclamation 9Mecialist <br />RE: Fie3d trip to Wald and Latimer Counties on 3/3/77 and 3/4/77 <br />DATE: 3/y/77 <br />Oa 313/77 I made afield trip to the Greely area in Fleld County and <br />the following was found: <br />1) That Helvia Gieb - operator for the 2telvin Gieb permit 76-1t{ will <br />submit a cash depoett and that they will monitor ealatiag wells <br />found is the area. They are not operating at the praseat t:lme. <br />2) That Edirege Johnson - operator for the Johnson and Johaeon permit <br />-77-50- teas submitted a supplemental reclamation plea sad wLll <br />submit a cash deposit. They are aot operating at the prese:at time. <br />3) That there are aumeroua seed and gravel operations found throughout <br />the Greely area which ere not permitted by the Hued Laad Reclamation <br />Board and which moat come under coupliance. <br />On 3/4/77 I met with Jim Hrowhill (Operations Manager) for Colorado <br />Lieu at the Rea querry located 21 Shea north of Fort Collins in <br />Latimer County and the following was found: <br />1) At the Rez Quarry they are taking the H layer of Limestone out. <br />~.- They will stockpile the Quarry fines on the top of the Quarry <br />and spread tt over the Quarry floor. <br />2) The Quarry will last 50 years. <br />•) At the Quarry they have set up 8 sections of test piote. l~or Wore <br />information we may contact Dr. Cook or Dr. Berg at Colorado State <br />Dniveseity. Plante adapted to the Bite are being use. We then went <br />to their propoae8 Gypsum Quarry which ie located S miles north of <br />Buckeye in Latimer County and the following was found: <br />1) Theq will follow as old road up to the Quarry. <br />2) The vegetation in the bottom consists of Blue Gsama, Yucca. Three awn, <br />and Russian Wildrye. The vegetation on the ridges consists of Hlue stem, <br />Mountain !lahognny, Three awn. and some Buckwheat. Study plots should be <br />set up to determine which vegetation is beet adapted to the aita. <br />
