Snider - File ~i77-193
~a..~ '
Dear i~rci-nai~~.
As per your request, I made a monitoring inpsection of the above captioned
operation on July 9, 1982. I have enclosed a copy of my inspection report
and cover letter to the operator. As you will note, I found several problems
with the operation and made recommendations for the rectification of these
problems. I set a deadline by which the operator must reply to these
problems in order to avoid possible Board action.
The primary problem seems to be the exposure of groundwater by the operator.
Although it was obvious that water resulting from precipitation had stood in
the pit earlier this year, the two ponds I observed had obviously been
excavated to expose groundwater. It appeared that this water was being used
in some manner by the operator. The mining and reclamation permit stated
that no groundwater would be exposed by the operation. The operator needs
to resolve this problem as well as the others noted in order to avoid a
potential violation of his permit.
I do not know how my inspection will affect the status of the Fremont County
zoning approval for this operation. Please let me know the status of this
matter as soon as it becomes clear. Thank you for your assistance in this
matter.
Sincerely,
D~tiI~J
Mark S.
