Servicec Ire (SWLS) has been retained by Dale Trenkle, permit holder for High <br />Flume Gravel Pit to assist him in addressing the possible violations (PV) and problems noted <br />(PB) which exist at [his pit. SWLS performed as agent for the 1995 Technical Revision of the <br />original Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) permi[. We believe Ivir. Trenkle has always <br />operated his pit in an honest and conscience manner; the current situation is apparently a result of <br />being a little overanxious, and Mr. Trenkle wants to do wha[ is right, and fix the situation. <br />We have met with Steve Shuey, DMG Environmental Protection Specialis[ in the Durango Field <br />Office to discuss the PV and PB, and how to bring the High Flume Pi[ into compliance. SWLS <br />conducted a si[e visit and meeting with Mr. Trenkle, and Flint Energy Cons[tvction Company, the <br />:. o......,•,.,~ er: F°b^~^••• ~'h es a resell of this ~~erNno anri rhr• rti.rn~cinnc wirh Mr. Shuey. i[ <br />r., r,.,.....,. - _.~ - <br />has been decided tc amend the exisrrg permit [o a Regular 113 Operations permit. <br />The amendment process is well underway at this time. A surveyor has been hired, and conducted <br />the physical data collection on March 6's. SWLS met with La Plata County officials to initiate the <br />process of expanding the land use permit. The first problem noted in Mr. Shuey's inspection <br />report of 2-OS-01 has already been corrected, and photographic evidence has been provided. The <br />two o[her problems/possible violations will be corrected by the pen»it amendment. <br />Mr. Trenkle, in conjunc[ion with the pit operators Flint, realize they have made a mistake, and <br />want to do what's right by correcting the problems and violations as quickly as possible. They <br />have, in fact, initiated the proc::ss to do so.
