Schmiedin~, Mined Land Reclamation Specialist <br />SU&TECT: Field Trip to Weld County on October 22, 1976, <br />y'~/Y <br />On October 22, 1976, I made afield check of the Melvin Gieb <br />Pit located in northwestern Weld County, 20 miles northeast <br />of Greeley, Colorado. No problems were seen at the site an3 <br />their application will be heard at the December Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board meeting. They are not operating'at this <br />pit at the present time. Sdeld County is operating a pit <br />three-quarters of a mile southwest of Melvin Gieb at the <br />present time. <br />I recommend we bring the Weld County pit into compliance <br />with the Reclamation law and that we work with Melvin Gieb <br />so that we can bring his operation into compliance with the <br />Reclamation law as soon as possible. <br />~ _ ~ <br />JLS:ms <br />
