's "Mesita Hill Mine"
Amendment, File No. M-77-227, Costilla County
Dear Mr. Steed:
Your letter opposing the "Mesita Hill Mine" Amendment was received by the
Division on January 8, 1986.
Please understand the inability of the Division to send you copies of the
amendment application (free of charge) due to budgetary constraints. Copies
of the application are available for public review in the Division office and
the Costilla County Clerk and Recorders office.
The amendment submitted by Colorado Aggregate Company of New Mexico, Inc. was
a response to the Division's 14ay 2, 1985 Inspection recommendation.
The amendment was requested to clarify the original permit maintained by the
Division. Maps delineating the permit boundary, affected land boundary,
mining boundary, pre-law disturbance, etc., were included.
Affected land acreage was actually decreased from that proposed in the
original amendment.
The revegetation seedmix was improved by including species better adapted to
site conditions, and thereby increasing diversity.
The bond maintained by the state was increased from $37,800.00 to $142,700.00.
The permit boundary acrege was amended to create angular delineation, thereby
facilitating identification of lands contained within and without.
In effect, the amendment improves the original pe nnit by decreasing the
planned affected land acreage, improving the reclamation plan, and increasing
the bond maintained by the state.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
