Vegetation is moderate cover <br />with some bare areas, dominant species are crested wheatgrass and intermedi~rte(?) <br />wheatgrass. Cottonwood saplings, willows, and ponderosa pines have been plzrnted around <br />the perimeter. Willows are growing at the base of the pond slopes. <br />Vegetation was irrigated until approximately Z-year ago according to Afr. Graham. Some <br />tension cracks caused by settling exists along the pond slopes. Topsoil is r.toderately <br />cobbley. Areas left to be topsoiled and seeded are the staging-silo area, t:he northern <br />and eastern pond perimeter. Eastern portion troy be incorporated into future' amendments. <br />Phase II: Grading of pond slopes is complete. Pond shape is good with irrc~yular shore- <br />line and ~ island. Pfost slopes are 3:1. Slopes and pond perimeter have been top- <br />soiled, however, at the western end the topsoil was last due to wind erosion. Curren*_ <br />topsoil is very rocky. Portions of pond have been seeded and some cottonwoods have <br />been planted. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />phase I: Release of that portion of the bond covering the grading and vegetation of the <br />pond area is in order. <br />Phase ZZ: Release of that portion of the bond covering grading and shaping of the pond <br />is in order. <br />As the dominant veyetation in Phase I was not included in the approved seed mix the <br />operator should submit the actual seed mixture planted on this site. The operator <br />should be aware that the reclamation plan calls far a minimum 6 inch depth cf replaced <br />topsoil, including the pond slopes.
