Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
ACTIVE MINE BOND FORFEITURE PROJECTS
Permit Information
Permit Number Operator Name Mine Name
M-1982-016 Newport Minerals, Inc. Independence Micropiles Project—Cameron permit boundary
Type of Mine- 112 Commodity Mined -Gold
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS
The Cameron Mine is located one mile northeast of the Town of Victor and 2.5 miles east of Cripple Creek in Teller County,
Colorado. The Mining Permit was issued to Newport Minerals, Inc. in 1981. In 1988, the mine permit was revoked and the
bond money was forfeited. The forfeited bond is associated with two permits: the Cameron Mine and the School Section
Mine.
The Independence Headframe is located within the Cameron Mine permit boundary. The collapse of underground mine
workings adjacent to and beneath the headframe resulted in weakened structural integrity of the headframe. The
Independence Micropiles Project addressed the hazard of possible structure collapse by drilling micropiles beneath the
headframe and securing the micropiles to the headframe with steel beams and channels that form a framework.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Type of Bid: Invitation for Bid PKA-16-762
Encumbrance Number Contractor Name&Address Construction Bond Amount
CT-PKAA-2016"3400 Harrison Western Construction Dates $158,280.00
Corporation Start: 5/15/2017
Contract Date: 1208 Quail Street End: 7/10/2017 Project Cost
10/24/2016 Lakewood, CO 80215 $158,280.00
Construction Work Description
The project work included constructing a new foundation system for the Independence headframe. The foundation system
consists of 4 new pile caps with battered micropile groups bearing on bedrock. The pile caps were connected to the existing
load bearing beams and two new C-channel beams.
Remaining Reclamation Requirements and Estimated Cost
None
kr7Via''
Le7Z6(‘,61)11 S
er
Pro ect Manager Senior Manager
J 9 Project9
is //)0/7 ) I (iJoi
Date/ Date
