Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
ACTIVE MINE BOND FORFEITURE PROJECTS
Permit Information
Permit Number Operator Name Mine Name
M-1982-016 Newport Minerals, Inc. Cameron Project- Blacksmith Relocation
Type of Mine: 112 Commodity Mined- Gold
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS
The Cameron Mine is located one mile northeast of the Town of Victor and 2.5 miles east of Cripple Creek in Teller
County, Colorado. The Mining Permit was issued to Newport Minerals, Inc. in 1981. In 1988, the mine permit was
revoked and the bond money was forfeited. The forfeited bond is associated with two permits; the Cameron Mine and
the School Section Mine. Reclamation of the two sites was put on hold for a number of years because Cripple Creek
and Victor Gold Mining Company (CC&V) expanded their permit area to include the Cameron Mine and the School
Section Mine.
The Cameron Blacksmith Buildings are circa 1900 structures for the historic town site of Cameron. The goal of the
project was to preserve the historic structures by relocating the Blacksmith Building and Change Shop to the base of
Hoosier hill, approximately 2 miles away.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Type of Bid D. ••-• -• •uote Purchase Order
(circle one) Invitation for Bid
PO Number: Contractor Name &Address: Construction Purchase Order Amount- $44,900.00
PKA-12-679 Dates: Change Order Amount- $6,240.00
C.A.N. Construction on June 6, 2012. Construction began on June 11, 2012.
Concrete footers were installed for the Cameron Office and Blacksmith Shop; 8-inches wide and 24-inches deep with
rebar at the base of Hoosier Hill. Both Cameron structures were moved in their entirety. The Office structure was
braced along the floors and walls and leveled true before it was loaded on the flatbed trailer. Likewise, the Blacksmith
Shop was also braced and loaded on the trailer and transported to Hoosier Hill. A new sill plate (2-inch by 6-inch) was
installed on the concrete foundations and attached using anchor bolts drilled into the concrete on four foot centers.
Missing portions of the structures were replaced using sheet metal salvaged from the collapsed Hoist House that was
too ruined to move. The salvaged sheet metal was trimmed and installed to resemble the historic structures. One
change order was processed to haul away wood and debris that was pushed aside to accommodate the Office and
Blacksmith structures.
Remaining Reclamation Requirements and Estimated Cost:
Other historic structures may be moved in the future to accommodate mining and reclamation of the Cameron and
School Section site. Historical signs will be installed in the Spring of 2013.
r
Project Manager , Senior Project rana er
°n 2 Z247iD il l l2
Date Date
1
