The portal <br /> was situated on the north facing slopes, south of Monte Cristo Creek near the development of Blue River. The operation was <br /> permitted under an approved Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting No. MP-82-037 issued in 1982. According to the file, <br /> prospecting was conducted in a pre-existing mine adit. Mine waste was to be added to an existing miine dump. The portal <br /> dimensions were measured at 6'x 7'.The portal was located in an area of heavy talus cover. The portal had been gated <br /> with a chain link fence and bailing wire but was open to due to vandalism. A few hundred cu. yds. of mine dump were <br /> present outside the portal and a 400' access road connected to adjacent properties. Local <br /> mine dump and talus rock were placed inside the portal a distance of 15 feet using a wheel excavator. The access road was <br /> broadcast seeded with Subalpine/Alpine Vegetation seed mix. A portion of the project cost was funded with $1,025.00 of <br /> Emergency Response money. The project manager was Gary Curtiss. <br /> • <br /> Remaining Reclamation Requirements and Estimated Cost: Grading of the existing mine dump, ripping and seeding the <br /> access road if broadcast seed does not germinate.
