Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
Mountain Top Mine— Bond Forfeiture Funds and Bond Forfeiture Severance Tax Project
Introduction: The Mountain Top Mine bond was revoked and a $2,500 bond was forfeited to the State of Colorado for
reclamation. Prior to forfeiture, DRMS unsuccessfully attempted to increase the bond amount to $18,000. Reclamation
requirements at the Mountain Top Mine cost five times as much as the original bonded amount.
Permit Information
Permit Number Operator Name Mine Name
M-1980-067 Silver Eagle Mining Company Mountain Top Mine
Type of Mine — underground hard rock Commodity Mined - Silver
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS
The Mountain Top Mine consisted of the following features:
1. Water and
soil data indicated that the mine waste and mine drainage was not acid producing, nor metals laden. DRMS and The
Mining Company decided to leave the 20,000 cubic yards of mine waste in the natural tributary drainage and leave the
settling pond in place.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
The final reclamation plan for the Mountain Top Mine consisted of the following reclamation tasks:
1.
