RECEIVED
October 24m,2022 OCT 2 8 2022
Mr. Eric Scott, Reclamation Specialist DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety MINING AND SAKTY
1313 Sherman, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: Hunt Water LLC(M-2018-027)—Technical Revision 2
Dear Mr. Scott:
Hunt Water, LLC is requesting a Technical Revision to the M-2018-027 Reclamation Permit. The proposed
changes to the mine site are:
- Road entrance improvements to increase truck trips.
- Retention pond located south of the entrance.
- Mining inside the permit boundary to incorporate recently plugged and abandoned oil and gas wells
to the west of the pit.
- Reduced mine highwall and reclamation slope offset.
- Proposed bore under Union Pacific Railroad and Highway 85(CDOT)from Hunt Reservoir#1 to
Hunt Reservoir#2.
- Mine Plan and Reclamation plan updates.
The proposed changes will affect the Mining Plan Map,and the Reclamation Plan Map(see attached).
Increased demand and truck traffic required entrance improvements on to Highway 60. The entrance
improvement that are included inside of the permit boundary is the paving of approximately 106'of the
entrance roadway and widening. A retention stormwater pond is being constructed inside the permit
boundary. The 24-inch pipe extends approximately 36 feet into the site as measured from the permit
boundary.
Five Kerr-McGee oil and gas wells that were interior of the slung wall have been plugged and abandoned.
In order to maximize the recovered aggregate resource and the water storage at the site, Hunt Water
proposes to extend the mine limit to 30 feet from the slung wall in these locations(see attached Mine Plan
Map). With the exception of Lucky 2 Amoco 34-6, abandonment reports have not been provided to the
Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission as of the writing of this TR but will be provided to the
Division when made available. The plugged and abandoned wells are:
➢ Thompson 25-6
➢ Thompson 24-6
➢ Thompson 33-6A
➢ Thompson 23-6
➢ Lucky 2 Amoco 34-6(COGCC status report included)
The mine highwall will be reduced to accommodate further aggregate extraction. The 30-foot offset from the
inside of the slurry wall will be reduced to a 20-foot offset and the slope will be mined at three horizontal to
one vertical to a maximum depth of 30-feet. An updated slope stability analysis and technical memo is
attached to this TR.
