(OSMI)requests a 30-day extension to the decision date for TR-12 from
June 17th, 2021 to July 16th, 2021. OSMI is requesting the extension due to an error in the
Adequacy Review Response.
It was stated that Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate was detected at 5.2 ug/L with no standard, however,
"Bthylhexyl phthalate (BIS-2) (DEHP)" is a synonym of`Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate"and has a
CO GW standard of 2.5 ug/L(health-based value)or 6 ug/L(MCL)and therefore the detection of
5.2J is an exceedance of the groundwater standard.
The result has a "J" flag which means it is an estimated value. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is a
common lab/sampling contaminant and is prevalent in plastics and PVC.Sampling equipment with
these materials is a possible source of contamination. OSMI is requesting this extension in order
to allow time for the well to be resampled with latex tubing and pumps to determine the source of
Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate.
OSMI appreciates your attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please contact me at
(970) 325-9830.
Sincerely,
1
Todd esse
Environmental Specialist
Ouray Silver Mine Inc
Phone:(970)325-9830 ♦ Fax:(970)325-9824
