c
REcav t)
April 12, 2021 DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
p MININGAND WM
Dear Reclamation Board Members;
Throughout my adult life, (40 years), I have been visiting Summit County to hike, fish& ski
with family and friends. I moved to Breckenridge 10 years ago and admire the landscape
improvements that Peak Materials has done following their past gravel excavations and
community recreation areas they have created. I believe there have been three or more. On this
particular proposed site, (File# M2020041), they are also donating land usage to the Blue River
Horse Center for their non-profit horse rescue, gentling & community educational programs for
adults and children. Last year we had over 100 classes to educate and train community
members about emotional & spiritual connectedness, leadership qualities & mental-health
anxieties. Please go to their website: www.Blue River Horse Centenorg and read all the
testimonies, benefiting those community volunteers &participants.)
In the recent Summit Daily "Opinion" article on April 9th the author does not take into
account the other properties that Peak Materials has developed and improved drastically after
their gravel operations, only to leave those areas as future community sites, lakes, dog parks and
places for community recreation.
The so-called facts that this article presents are questionable as follows;
"Water"; Peak will meet all environmental statues with water recirculation and protection of our
oil shale as they have in the past.
"Fishing" the gold that was mined in the past without our current environmental protections for
sure damaged our Blue River fish. Since Peak Materials will be compliant with
environmental safety regulations as they have done on earlier projects, the assumption that the
fishing will be harmed will not happen.
"Elk & Deer"; the proposed. site is right on Highway 9 and animal life has already moved their
migration patterns long ago
"Bike Trail" ; there is not a bike trail close to the proposed site other than right on Highway 9.
Please take my letter into consideration and pass this project.
Sincerely, Lisa Robelen
