Existing lime addition infrastructure and distribution methods <br /> will be used for cement addition. Currently, lime addition is controlled via a screw feeder onto <br /> the crushed ore conveyor at an average rate of 10-13 pounds per ton of ore; which is set in the <br /> crusher control system. Lime is then mixed throughout the ore stream via transfer chutes on the <br /> load-out bin conveyors. Crushed ore is then placed into haul trucks for placement on the VLFs. <br /> Attachment 1 details this process. Pending DRMS approval, the method for cement application <br /> will be identical to the current lime addition process. If the economics or supply of cement <br /> require, lime will be applied as a buffering agent as previously approved. <br /> Although lime and cement are chemically similar and possess comparable alkaline buffering <br /> capacities, the minor difference in the composition of the cement will allow for a longer-term <br />
