NEW ELK COAL
COMPANY
August 31, 2018
Rob Zuber
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Rm. 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: New Elk Mine
Permit C-1981-012
TR -73
Dear Mr. Zuber:
RECEIVED
sEP 0 5 2018
Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
Attached is the technical revision application, public notice, and revised
Table 27 for the Well Monitoring Plan as part of Section 2.05 of the New Elk
PAP. Eight well monitoring sites were added to Table 27 for PR -4
(withdrawn) but were drilled under an NOI and then transferred to the New
Elk PAP for bond release. Since New Elk is not actively mining, monitoring
of these wells is not necessary.
New Elk wants to modify the table so monitoring the wells is not necessary
when New Elk Mine is not actively mining. After mining resumes, New Elk
will initiate monitoring the wells to provide background information to support
permit expansion.
Sincerely,
Nicholas Mason
Engineering Technician
12250 State Hwy 12 Phone (719) 631-6146
Weston, Colorado 81091 Fax (719) 668-0044
Email nmawn@newe%al.com
