The SWSP will cover
depletions caused by gravel mining operations at Morton Lakes Mine (“Morton Lakes”) and Holton
Lake Mine (“Holton Lakes”) operated by Ready Mixed Concrete Company (“RMCC” or Applicant”).
On March 6, 2017 the Colorado Division Mining and Safety (“DRMS”) approved the incorporation of
the Holton Lakes Mine into the Morton Lakes Mine, therefore both mining permits are now
operating under Morton Lakes Mine (M-2008-082).
The original SWSP for the Morton Lakes and Holton Lakes was approved on June 8, 2016 to cover
depletions from April 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017. The SWSP was amended on October 25,
2017 to cover changes from October 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017. The SWSP was amended
again on June 28, 2017 to cover changes from May 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017 and again
on November 21, 2017 to cover changed mining operations from October 1, 2017 through
December 31, 2018. In the current SWSP, RMCC had planned to continue dewatering Stage 6B
through the end of 2018. However, RMCC partially filled Stage 6B by direct diversions from the
South Platte River under free river conditions in March 2018. Therefore this fourth SWSP
amendment is intended to cover the additional evaporation depletions from Stage 6B from March
1, 2018 through December 31, 2018. Approval of this SWSP amendment supersedes the third
amendment approved on November 21, 2017. The required fee of $257 for this SWSP has been
submitted (receipt nos. 3685237).
