J. E. STOVER & ASSOCIATES, INC.
2352 NORTH 7T" STREET, UNIT B
GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO 81501
PHONE: (970) 245-4101, FAX: (970) 242-7908
MINE ENGINEERING
MINE RECLAMATION
March 26, 2018
Clayton Wein
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215 RECEIVED
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie Resources, LLC, Bowie No. 2 Mine MAR '9 2018
Permit C-1996-083 biftion of Reclam,tition,
Technical Revision #115, Milling & S•fety
Temporary and permanent rip rap design
Dear Mr. Wein:
CIVIL ENGINEERING
CONST. MANAGEMENT
On behalf of Bowie Resources LLC, enclosed is an application for a technical revision to install temporary
rip rap in Ditch F8, and another section of rip rap in the East Diversion ditch which will be permanent.
Sizing for the riprap in Ditch F8 is based upon flows from Ditch F8 and the runoff from the top of the pile.
The runoff from the top of pile #2 has been calculated with SedCad and will be incorporated into the
permit.
In addition to the riprap in Ditch F8, there will be rip rap placed at the outlet of Temporary Culvert T -F1,
which will be designed based on the combined peak flows for T -F1 and Ditch F-8. Both sections of riprap
are considered temporary. In addition, the flow data for T -F1 has been updated based on the current
configuration of the top of gob pile #2, therefore, page App. B-102 has been revised.
The new segment of riprap in the East Diversion ditch will be D50=9" as per the approved rip rap design
for the East Diversion ditch. While the segment only has a channel slope of 7%, a larger rip rap size will
perform better long term and for high intensity short duration storms.
Please see revised pages Volume II, Maps 15-3, 20 and 21-3. Volume IX pages App. B-102, B-102i-102vi.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Tamme Bishop, P.E.
Project Engineer
Cc: Bill Bear
