As longwall
panel LW E8 has been extended to the east, the pads for MVBs E8-1 & E8-2 and E8-3 also
need to be relocated to the east as shown on the attached map. The MVB pads previously
approved in Technical Revision No. TR -140 for MVBs E8-1 & 2 and E8-3 will now be for MVBs
E84 and E8-5, and the pads previously approved for MVBs E84 through E8-6 will now be for
MVBs E8-6 through E8-8. The MVB E8-3 pad will be less than an acre in size and the pads for
MVBs E8-1 and E8-2 will be about a 1/3 acre each connected by a short road segment through
a swale over an 8" (or larger) pipe that will aid in passing water flows through the swale.
A 1,145' road segment that was also previously approved to access the pad for MVB E84
(formerly for MVBs E8-1&2) will be eliminated. The new pads for MVBs E8-1 through E8-4 will
be accessed with approximately 2,970' of new road.
The new locations and roads were evaluated by Dan Gray of the U.S. Forest Service (FS),
Paonia Ranger District to identify any previously undocumented cultural resources, T&E
species and other resources of special interest. The FS will document the findings of these
evaluations during this revision process.
Please don't hesitate to contact me at (970) 929-2238 or by e-mail should you have
questions regarding this submittal.
Sincerely,
Kathleen G.
