<br /> <br />Public Notice <br /> <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, of the Colorado <br />Revised Statutes, hereby issues notice that on September 14, 2017, a minor revision application (MR-424) <br />to the West Elk Mine, Permit No. C-1980-007, operated by Mountain Coal Company, LLC, 5174 <br />Highway 133, Somerset, CO 81434 was considered complete for the purposes of filing. Minor Revision <br />424 seeks to permit the drilling of up to three shallow exploration holes in order to determine the <br />characteristics of the E-seam to the south of the current mine plan area. In a similar manner to the holes <br />drilled under MR-423, the holes will be rotary drilled to a depth of 400-700’, and cased through the upper <br />50’ of unconsolidated material. Temporary roads will be 12’ wide, and total a length of up to 1,500’. Up <br />to three pads may be constructed, with an area of 1/4 acre each. All proposed disturbance will be within <br />the current permit boundary. The applicant is proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the <br />area currently approved for disturbance. All reviews and comment periods as provided in the Act and <br />Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this date of filing. <br /> <br /> <br /> Posted September 14, 2017 <br /> <br /> C-MR-03
