Box 20,000 <br />Grand Junction, CO 81501 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: Roadside Portals (Permit No. C-1981-041) <br /> Permit Renewal Application No. 7 (RN-7) <br /> <br />Dear Mesa County Planning Department: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on July 5, 2017, an <br />application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Roadside Portals <br />was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided <br />in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br /> <br />Snowcap Coal Company, Inc proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation <br />operations on land located approximately 5 miles North of Palisade, Colorado. The permit area is <br />further described as follows: <br /> <br />T10S, R98W, 6th PM Sections 26, 27, 28, 34, and 35; T11S, R98W, 6th PM Section 2 all in Mesa <br />County.. <br /> <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle <br />map(s): Cameo. <br /> <br />Snowcap Coal Company, Inc. has submitted an application for renewal of the Roadside Portals in <br />accordance with Rule 2.08.5(2). No coal extraction is anticipated, and only reclamation and <br />maintenance activiites are anticipated during this permit term. This renewal application does not <br />propose revisions to the approved mining and reclamation plan, nor is there any proposed surface <br />disturbance outside of the currently approved disturbance area. <br />
