Colorado Parks & <br /> Wildlife, (CPW) understands that the mining operation for the extraction of fill material will take <br /> place West of the town of Walsenburg and further described by the following legal description; <br /> Section 27, Township 28S, Range 67W,NE1/4NW1/4, Huerfano County, CO. <br /> As requested District Wildlife Manager Mike Brown reviewed the application and maps and <br /> conducted a site visit on 05/30/2017. Furthermore, CPW biologists were also consulted on the <br /> proj ect. <br /> The proposed 12 acre surface mining operation is located on private land within a short grass <br /> prairie type of habitat in close proximity to U.S. Hwy. 160. The dominant grass species consist <br /> of blue grama, and western wheatgrass. Additional sub-dominant grasses include Sand Drop seed <br /> and Indian Rice grass.
