Wein <br />1 ".iwi •onniental Protection Specialist <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Re: Bowie No. 1 Mine (Permit No. C-1981-038), Permit Revision Application No. 5 (PR -5) Land Use Change <br />(I -1C 467175) <br />Dear Mr. Wein: <br />Thank you for your recent correspondence dated March 24, 2017 (received by our office on !larch 30, 2017) <br />rv,;arditip the subject undertaking. <br />A� the above referenced permit revision does propose additional surface disturbance, it is our opinion that a <br />finding of no historic properties affected is appropriate for the proposed undertaking pursuant to 36 CFR <br />800.4 (d) (1). <br />The consultation process does involve other consulting parties such as local governments and Tribes, ,vhich as <br />stipulated in 36 CFR 8003 are required to be notified of the undertaking. Additional information provided b� <br />the local government, "Tribes or other consulting parties may cause our office to re-evaluate our comments and <br />recommendations. <br />If previoush' unidentified archaeological resources are discovered in the course of the project, work must be <br />interrupted until the resources are properly evaluated in terms of the National Register of I Iistoric Places <br />eligibiht\ criteria (36 CI 'R 60.4) in consultation with our office. <br />"Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
