FOUR CORNERS MATERIALS
A division of Oldcastle SW Group, Inc.
28 February 2017 KECEIVEQ
Travis Marshall MAR 0 6 2017
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety DNISION OF RECLAMAT,0W
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 VINNG4SAFErY
Denver,CO 80203
RE: South Fork#1 Pit,File No. M-2017-004
Preliminary Adequacy Review—Response
Dear Mr. Marshall:
Our responses below are numbered relative to the order of the items in your letter of February 24,
2017.
1) It is the intent of Four Corners Materials(FCM)to stockpile any available topsoil upslope of
the mining area and overburden stockpile area to provide a view buffer of the mining area.
FCM will reseed the topsoil stockpiles with the following recommended seed mix to provide a
vegetative cover to enhance stability and organic viability until final reclamation of the mine
phases.
[Topsoil Stockpile Seed Mix:annual rye at 5 pls/ac&triticale at 10 pls/ac]
2) The existing access road does enter onto the proposed mining permit boundary as shown on
Exhibit E-1. Minor improvements to this section of road within the proposed mining boundary
include widening and regrading to accommodate truck traffic. Ultimately, this section of road
will be mined and reclaimed as shown on Exhibit E-2.
It is important to note,as mentioned in Exhibit C,(g.), FCM has initial approval from the State
Board of Land Commissioners(SBLC)office to provide an easement for the establishment of a
more direct access route to US 160. FCM will seek an access permit from CDOT to provide
intermittent egress and ingress for future road projects.
3) As stated in Exhibit C, (1), FCM does not expect to intercept groundwater during mining
excavation. Earlier test holes indicated the water table is well below the bottom of the
mineable deposit. Should groundwater be encountered, FCM will adjust the mining depth
accordingly to prevent any intrusion into the water table.
P.O.Box 1969 0 Bayfield,CO 81122 o 970-247-2172 0 FAX:970-259-3631
