NS has noted elevated values for select parameters in the BG-8
groundwater. NS believes that the anomalous BG-8 groundwater chemistry may be
due to complications from the recent conversion from a DS Aquifer monitor well to a
B-Groove Aquifer monitor well.
NS has considered three potential fluid pathways which would cause the anomalous
BG-8 groundwater data:
• fluid movement through the BG-8 intermediate casing,
• fluid movement through the BG-8 intermediate casing annulus, or
• fluid movement through naturally occurring fractures.
NS wishes to be proactive with this issue and therefore plans to P&A the BG-8
groundwater monitoring well. NS intends to ensure good annular cement in the BG-8
above and below the B-Groove and A-Groove Aquifers and will perforate and squeeze
cement into the intermediate casing annulus, as necessary, to ensure good annular
cement and zonal isolation. The intermediate casing will then be filled with cement from
below the B-Groove Aquifer to surface. Please refer to the enclosed P&A Prognosis for
additional details.
Should you have any questions or comments, please contact me at (970) 254-1224 or
(970) 216-1010 (c), or Kirk Daehling at (970) 878-3674 ext. 114.
Regards,
Gerald J.
