COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
September 27,2016
Mark Johnson
Bestway Concrete Company
301 Centennial Dr.
Milliken, CO 80543
RE: Rocky Flats Pit; DRMS File No. M-1987-113; Technical Revision No. 3 —Adequacy Review No.
2
Dear Mr. Johnson,
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(Division)received Technical Revision- 03 (TR-03) for
the above referenced site on April 6, 2016.The decision date for this Technical Revision is October 21,
2016. The Division has reviewed the proposed revisions and has the following comments:
1. The Operator is proposing to elimate surface water runoff which accumulates in the pit by pumping
and discharging the water onto the affected lands. The Operator has stated a stormwater discharge
pen-nit will not be required for this activity. Please demonstrate a discharge permit is not required
through the Colorado Water Quality Control Division or commit to obtaining a discharge permit prior
to initiating pumping activities.
This concludes the Division's preliminary adequacy review of this Technical Revision. Please remember
that the decision date for this Technical Revision is October 21, 2016. As previously mentioned,if you
are unable to provide satisfactory responses to any inadequacies prior to this date, it will be your
responsibility to request an extension of time to allow for continued review of this Technical Revision. If
there are still unresolved issues when the decision date arrives and no extension has been requested, the
Technical Revision will be denied.
If you have any questions, please contact me at(303)866-3567 x8116.
Sincerely,
Michael A.
