` 2-•ct._Nei(oec ed
RECT:
Mr. Peter Hays
Environmental Protection Specialist II 4UL 2 8 2016
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
Denver, CO 80203
MINING AN[)SAFETY
Re: Permit No. M-2000-082 - East 8th Street Operation
!/Response to Inspection Report for Tyrell Well Complaint
Dear Mr. Hays;
First we would like to apologize for the delay in the response but we do feel like
the extra time has been instrumental and valuable in determining a solution and
a better understanding of the conditions.
> Superior Oilfield has been in contact with Mr.Tyrell and have confirmed the
following;
1 The well is in good operating condition and has been
inspected by a certified well company.
2 The well has been operational during the time in question,
just not as efficient as previous to the problem due to the
lower water level being experienced due to pumping
being preformed both north and south of the Tyrell well.
3 As recently as July 20, 2016 Mr.Tyrell indicated that the well
was preforming some what better than it has been but still
not as well as before the problem started.
> Superior Oilfield has repaired monitoring well#2 and has reached an agreement
with Hill Petroleum to use their monitoring well at the north west corner of the
mine site to be used as a replacement for monitoring well #1 for water levels as
needed due to the Leprino Sale.The Operator has now instituted the monitoring
well program as required and will insure it's compliance. Data from these wells
will be furnished separately to be included with this report. However the levels
for the Hill mw has trended up since the January 25th measurment.
> On July 8, 2016 Superior Oilfield ceased pumping operations for the west cell on
the site and removed the pump on July 18, 2016. During that short time frame the
water level in the cell has come up approx. three feet over most of the floor.
We believe that this will begin to recharge the area in question and start to raise
the water level in Mr. Tyrell's well allowing for it to return to normal operation
over time.
