491
RECEIVED
16 April 2016
APR 2 2 2016
Joseph Salazar Jr OM +t OF RECLAMATION
11780 Valle Verde Dr. • MMHGAND SAFETY
Colorado Springs,CO 0926
Ph:719-576-0295
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver,CO 80203
Mr.Wally Ericson:
As a very concerned resident of the Red Rock Valley neighborhood, I am writing this letter to
State that I am l00%in agreement with the letter written by the Red Rock Neighborhood
Association to Amy Eschberger on March 22,2016. (Attached to this email also)because in
addition to the facts listed on that letter, I have recently learned additional facts that may not
have been brought up to the attention of your office:
At a meeting this past Tuesday, I learned from a couple of geologist who live in the affected
neighborhood that there are two underground water"conduits"in the shape of a funnel that
converge in an area directly below the proposed Transit Mix quarry site. These are sources of
water for the adjacent neighborhoods to the east and to the north of the quarry.
It is amazing that in the Transit Mix quarry permit#M2016010 no mention is made of the
hundreds of families who live less than two miles north of the quarry whose water supply will
be jeopardized during the many, many years that the quarry will be blasting the already
fractured sub-soil that our water supply traverses. I urge you to spend more time researching
the potential for interrupting or polluting the water so many people depend on.
Sincerely,
, '41‘-/"-±'Joseph Salazar,Jr
1
