L.G. Everist, Inc. respectfully submits a combined Corrective Action Response for the three sand and
gravel mine sites listed above. All three sites were inspected by you on May 27, 2015, with Lynn Mayer
Shults and Richard Schneider of L.G. Everist participating.
In your inspection reports (RV 7/27/15, CV & F 7/29/15) for each site, you requested that we implement
weed control and submit proof that weed control is being conducted on all three sites as per the Division's
requirements in Section 3.1.10 (6).
CHEMICAL CONTROL - SPRAYING
Earlier in May, prior to the inspection, we had started spraying weeds throughout the sites - in some
cases the spray had affect - but in many cases the spray was washed away by the consistently rainy days
of May and June. We have continued to implement weed control by spraying weeds at the three sites
throughout the season. We hired an outside contractor for some of the spraying, and have also done a
lot of weed spraying with our own workforce.
Please see the two attached invoices - (a) Agfinity - Invoice K06266 in the amount of $4,084.18 for weed
control chemical sprays, and (b) Charles Shane - in the amount of $1,027.50 for spraying and mowing in
May and early July.
Please refer to the attached photographs of spraying and of dying/sprayed weeds at the sites.
MECHANICAL METHODS - MOWING, BULLDOZING, CUTTING DOWN
We have implemented mechanical methods of weed control by mowing and bulldozing grassy weeds,
and by chopping down some weed trees at the three sites throughout the season. In May, we chopped
down weed trees at the Rinn Valley site. We hired an outside contractor, Mr. Shane, to do some mowing
in May and July (see invoice referenced above). In June and July, we continued weed control with our
workforce - mowing and bulldozing many weeds at the sites.
